PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage of an endless belt during pouring and to extend the service life of the endless belt by arranging an elongation detecting terminal for continuously measuring the elongation rate of the endless belt. CONSTITUTION:In a twin belt type metal strip continuous casting machine having two lines of side dams, which are arranged at both side parts of the endless belts 1 and sandwiched with the endless belts 1 at the time of using the tension of the endless belt 1 at yield stress of the endless belt 1, the elongation rate of the endless belt 1 measured with a belt elongation rate converting instrument 19 is kept to yield elongation. In this time, the presetting value is made to the yield elongation of the endless belt 1. However, at the time of measuring the elongation rate of the endless belt 1 at the setting value with the belt elongation rate converting instrument 19, the signal is transmitted to the pouring control unit 14, to stop the pouring of the molten metal 5. Therefore, the tension at the yield stress is not acted to the endless belt 1 during pouring the molten metal 5 and the deformation and breakage caused by the elongation of the endless belt 1 are not developed. |
