Substd. 4-alkyl-2(1H)quinazolinone-1-alkanoic acid derivs. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts are prepd. In (I), n is 2 6; R1 is C1-4 lower alkyl; R2 is H or C1-4 lower alkyl; Y and Z are each hydroxy or C1-4 lower alkoxy. (I) are pref. akhyl 7,8-dimethoxy-4- methyl-2(1H)-quinazolinone-1-propionate or 7,8-dihydroxy-4-methyl- 2(1H)-quinazolinone-propionic acid. (I) are useful as cardiovascular agents.
