Partial replacement of proteins in fodder mixts. is achieved when maize is replaced by opaque-2-mutant hybrid of increased lysine concn.. The amt. of imported proteins as fish-meal, soya-grit, and synthetic lysine may be reduced to as low a level as 1.5wt.% in a fodder mixt.. - The opaque-2-mutant hybrid is harvested at 50-65wt.% solids content for prepn. of anaerobically fermented silage and pounded corn-ears.
