To place fastening members (5) in receiving materials (1) such as concrete, rock and the like, the fastening members (5) are driven through the base (2b) of a blind hole (2) made beforehand in the receiving material (1). In the process, the fastening member (5) penetrates through a sleeve (3) inserted into the blind hole (2) and restrains this sleeve (3) under radial expansion in the blind hole (2).
