An appliance for conveying freshly shaped, hot bottles from the shaping machine to an annealing oven which, in a customary manner, is arranged with its cooling oven bed plate or belt running in a direction which is parallel to the movement of the transferring conveyor. The surface of the transferring conveyor is driven at a first speed as it passes in front of the multi-section glass-shaping machine. After the conveyor, which consists of a number of horizontal chain links, has passed the machine sections, the individual chain links, which follow in succession, are moved closer together in order to in fact shorten the length of the articulated conveyor belt. This shortening is the result of the drive of the articulated conveyor belt stopping just after the underneath of the belt goes into engagement with a magnetic articulated belt chain which is driven at a lower speed. The chain is guided in a first straight line parallel to the direction of the machine conveyor and is then guided through a 90 degree curve in order to pass in front of the cooling oven, such that the bottles can be transferred from the conveyor surface to the cooling oven bed plate using a cooling oven loader. The above-described installation can be duplicated such that two conveyors are provided for carrying the bottles to the cooling oven and the speed of the conveyors consequently does not need to be so high and the bottles are more stable during the transfer. <IMAGE>
