The method for scanning key matrix utilizing a same port for inputting and outputting key scan data comprises a first process for preparing initial key scan data, a second process for temporary record of key scan data by a first control signal after latching the data utilizing an I/O port for key scan data, a third process for clearing the scan data in the port and for reading the key matrix scan data after transmitting the key scan data to the key matrix by a second control signal, a fourth process for checking the key operation of corresponding line, a fifth process for changing the data for next line scanning, and a sixth process for processing the key operation.
