<p>PURPOSE:To perform retrieval at extremely high speed by providing a function which can stop rotary heads at optical areas. CONSTITUTION:A tape is wound in an winding angle larger than the 90 deg. required for tracing a main area 16 by alpha deg. so that rotary magnetic heads 2 and 3 can be abutted on an optical area 17a or 17b of a track pattern and, simultaneously, a means which can stop a rotary drum 1 in a phase in which either one of the rotary magnetic heads 2 and 3 can be abutted on either one of the optional areas 17a and 17b. Therefore, by allowing either one of the heads 2 and 3 to stop on either one of the optional areas 17a and 17b at the time of high-speed retrieval and using the rotary magnetic heads as fixed heads, retrieval which is higher in speed than the high-speed retrieval realized by recording/reproducing sub-codes with rotary heads can be performed.</p> |
