PURPOSE: To brown and crisp surfaces by consisting of a microwave transparent plastic film having two layers of a flexible, heat resistant layer and a flexible, heat resistant, and heat stable layer, and by providing a layer of microwave susceptive material, the material having a sufficient thickness to cause it to heat to a stable temperature. CONSTITUTION: There are two layers of flexible, heat resistant, microwave transparent film 10 and 12, at least one of which is heat stable film. A layer of susceptive material 14, such as vacuum metallized aluminum, is located on an interior surface of a film 12. There is also an adhesive layer 16 used to join the layers of film together in the laminate. A film of at least one layer exhibits only a minimal amount of shrinkage at elevated temperatures due to heat stability. The susceptive material has a sufficient thickness for browning or crispening of food placed adjacent a multilayer structure under microwave cooking conditions. |
