The protective coating is made by (a) forming acrylate copolymer or polyester protective coating layer (4) at the shape of island on a thin magnetic layer (3), coated on the upper surface of base film (2) of magnetic recording medium (I), A (b) forming lubricable protective coating layer (5) with liq. lubricating agent, composed of silicone and flurocarbon lubricating agent, on the surface (6) of magnetics; and (c) forming other protective coating layer (7) on the lower surface of base film (2).
