The cash register with a separable key board includes a power failure detector (20), a first CPU (30) forpgenerating control signal by the output signal of the detector, a first auxiliary power unit (90) for supplying back-up power to protect the data recorded in a RAM (50), a second CPU (100) having ROM and RAM for arithmatic processing of the transaction data when the power fails or a keyboard is separated from the register, a liquid crystal display (110) displaying the transaction data, and a second auxiliary power unit (120) supplying power to the second CPU (100) and the liquid crystal display.
