摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To well orient a ferroelectric liquid crystal by forming oriented films of a polymer contg. >=80mol% repeating unit derived from acrylamide or polymer added with a crosslinking agent. CONSTITUTION:At least one of the oriented films 3a, 3b of the liquid crystal display element is formed of the polymer contg. >=80mol% repeating unit contg. the acrylamide or the polymer added with the crosslinking agent. The coated film formed by applying this polymer on transparent electrodes 2a, 2b is heat treated at a relatively low temp. of 120 to 170 deg.C and is then subjected to a rubbing treatment with nylon, etc. The film thickness is preferably 200 to 2,000Angstrom . Transparent substrates 5, 6 formed with such oriented films 3a, 3b are disposed to face each other and the liquid crystal 4 is sealed therebetween, by which the ferroelectric liquid crystal 4 is uniformly and stably oriented.</p>
