PURPOSE:To obtain a printing quality by continuously printing from the final printing position of a continuous sheet at the time of restarting a printing operation, and to contribute to the saving of a material by stopping a printing operation, then returning the sheet in a predetermined length. CONSTITUTION:If a printing operation is stopped on the way, a continuous sheet 11 is fed forward until final printing position Mf passes heat rollers 12, 13. If the forward feeding of the sheet 11 is completed and the feeding is stopped, a supply reel 51 is then reversibly driven at a predetermined angle from the stopping position, and the sheet 11 is reversibly rotated in a direction of an arrow H2. Its length Lt becomes the distance (= L1 + L2 + L3) obtained by adding the length L1 from the position Mf to a position Mr in contact with the rollers 12, 13, the length L2 from the position Mr to the transferring position Ms of a photosensitive drum 10, and the length L3 from the position Ms to the position Mc immediately after the head 72.
