CONSTITUTION:An automatic transmission B connected with an engine A selects a specified each step of gear shifting by letting every kind of frictional element C of a speed change gear mechanism be hydraulically actuated selectively by line pressure D. And the line pressure D during the shifting operation of the automatic transmission B is controlled in learning by a means E in such a way that the actually measured time of inertia phase time is consistent with a target value. And the output torque of the engine A during the shifting operation is changed by a means F. In the constitution set forth herein above, a change in output torque by the means F is detected by a means G. And when the change in output torque is detected, the learning control in line pressure assumed by the means E is prohibited by a means H.
