A film magnetic head slider in which at least the recording medium- contacting part is made of sintered material containing cubic ZrO2. The average grain size of the material is not more than 5 micron m, the C content is 0.01-1 wt.% and the thermal ocnductivity is not more than 0.02 cal/Cm sec. C. Pref. the material also contains a stabilizer, more pref. Y2O3, CaO, MgO, CeO2, SrO, or La2O3. The film magnetic head slider has good sliding durability and machinability.
