PURPOSE:To make it possible to perform interruptive duplex or multi-copying by retreating the sheets stacked on an intermediate tray out of a resupply path when required and return it to the intermediate tray again. CONSTITUTION:In the case of duplex/multi-copying, sheets S on which images are formed at a copy section 7 are stacked on an intermediate tray 15 from a resupply path 12 by pairs of conveying rollers 13 and 16 with each head of the sheets shifted specified distance. In case of the requirement of interruptive duplex/multi-copying or duplex copying of twice as many as maximum stackable number of sheets on the intermediate tray 15, the sheets S stacked on the intermediate are retreated out of the resupply path 12 by the pairs of conveying rollers 51 to 53 of a retreat carriage returning means 50. After the completion of interruptive copying work, the sheets S having been retreated are returned again to the intermediate tray 15 by the retreat carriage returning means 50, and the sheets are supplied in order by a pair of conveying rollers 17 and a pair of sheet resupply rollers 20 to restart copying work. Thus, interruptive duplex/multi-copying or double increasing in the number of sheets can be done. |
