<p>PURPOSE:To detect the no existence of stitching member and indicate same at the time of the failure in stitching sheets by providing a stitching member detecting means for detecting the existence of a stitching member which is discharged by a stitching means each time the stitching means carries out a stitching operation. CONSTITUTION:When an automatic stapling mode is being set, a control means 99 moves a stapler 17 from a retracted position 17b to a stitching position 17a to stitch the corner portions of sheets P housed on a bin B with stapler pins 102 and, then returns the stapler 17 to the retracted position 17b. At the time of this returning, if a stitching member detecting means (magnetic sensor) S11 integrally provided on the stapler 17 fails to detect stapler pins 102, the control means 99 judges that no pins 102 are discharged from the stapler 17 and that no sheets P are stapled because of no pins, and indicates this on an indicator. Thus, the recovering measure of stitching means, etc., can be taken to cope with the nonconformity of stitching means.</p> |
