PURPOSE:To easily make a gain adjustment by identify output sensitivity previously while narrowing down a point source to the center of each photoelectron multiplier tube and adjusting the bias power source of the photoelectron multiplier tube. CONSTITUTION:The output of a photomultiplier 4 which employs an anode grounding method is transmitted by a coaxial cable 14 and the photomultiplier output is I/V-converted and also integrated by the floating capacity of the coaxial cable and a resistance 15. This output is received by a buffer 16, whose output is supplied to the Vref input of a multiplication type D/A converter 17 to perform digital gain control with control signals from a computer which monitors a signal processing system and a controller 19. Further, the output is inputted to a waveform shaping circuit 7 and differentiated here to increase the time resolution of the signal. A potentiometer provided inside or outside a breeder circuit is adjusted and then the photomultiplier 4 is mounted.
