PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition, capable of exhibiting powerful deodorizing and germicidal effects and useful for deodorizing and sterilizing water closets, raw sewage treatment and waste disposal plants, nitrogen oxide in the air, fishing boats, livestock barns, fish processing industry, preventing perishables from putrefying, etc., by combining a chlorite with inorganic phosphoric acid compound. CONSTITUTION:A composition consisting of a mixture of an aqueous solution of a chlorite, such as sodium chlorite, in 0.01-25wt.% concentration with an alkaline metal phosphate, such as disodium phosphate, and/or a condensed phosphate, such as sodium metaphosphate (R=1) and sodium tripolyphosphate (R=1.67), expressed by the formula (x and y are coefficients; 0<R<3 when the ratio of x/y is R; A is alkaline metal; B is H; a and b are positive integers and a+b=2; a is 1 or 2). The above-mentioned composition may be used by a method for spraying or scattering the composition in the form of an aqueous solution in 10ppm-10wt.% concentration or aerosol on a bad smelling source, etc. In the case of a bad smelling gas, the gas may be passed through the aqueous solution or the composition may be applied by a showering method. |
