A composition for use in the production of polishing wheels comprises a dispersion in water of a granular polishing agent, a hardenable epoxy resin and a water-soluble softening agent, the latter being present in amount up to 10% by weight of the dispersion, and the amount of epoxy resin being such as to constitute, after hardening, 1,5 to 7% by weight of the material. A hardening agent for the resin is also added. The preferred materials are:-softening agent-glycerine; epoxy resin-the diepoxide formed by reacting 4,41-dimonoethylamino diphenyl methane with epichlorhydrin; polishing agent-polisher's rouge; hardener-trimethylamine.
