<p>PURPOSE:To independently select contact length and contact depth at the time of rubbing by vertically moving a ring-like rubbing material held over the outer periphery of two rolls while keeping the relation of relative position between the two rolls. CONSTITUTION:Since the ring-like rubbing material 1 is held over the two rolls 2a, 2b, the motion of the rubbing material 1 is made linear between the rolls 2a, 2b. Thus, a linear motion is adopted for the motion of the rubbing material 1 and the position of the roll 2b is changed on a circumference around the center axis of the roll 2a in an arrow direction (c) to change a contact angle phi. Even when the contact length (l) and the contact depth (d) are independently controlled and the contact depth (d) is reduced, the contact length (l) can be secured as a sufficient long length. Consequently, rubbing pressure applied to an orientation film 4 formed on the substrate 3 of a liquid crystal panel can be reduced and uniformly applied and the orientation property can be increased by the increment of rubbing density.</p> |
