This element 1a, 1b is made of pressed and welded metal; it comprises a front wall 2a, 2b consisting of a first profiled section, a rear wall 3a, 3b and two lateral walls 4a, 4b consisting of a second profiled section welded on the first one, and an extension 6a, 6b at each end of the front wall, which is curved rearwards in such a way as to form a slide opposite the corresponding lateral wall; two elements 1a, 1b mounted and assembled via their rear walls 3a, 3b constitute a column 1 having on each side, facing the lateral walls, an open sheath 13 and two vertical slides 6a, 6b in which traveller elements 15, capable of sliding and being blocked in the slides, permit the attachment or fastening of articles; the applications of the element and the column in the area of street furnishing are numerous.
