PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF THIENO(3,2-C) PYRIDINE DERIVATIVES

A process for preparing a thieno (3,2-c) pyridine compound of formula (I) comprises: (a) reacting a beta-(2-thienyl) ethyl amine of formula (II) with o-chloro-benzoly chloride to obtain an amide of formula (III); and (b) reducing (III) and cyclizating with formaldehyde- hydrogen chloride. (I) has anti-inflammatory vasodilatory and blood platelet aggregation inhibitory activities.
