PURPOSE:To increase the exhaust-gas purifying effect by installing a converter case which is connected to the gas-flow outlet of an exhaust manifold and extended to the outside of the exhaust manifold, also installing a cylindrical retainer which is extended toward inside, and charging catalyst into said exhaust manifold. CONSTITUTION:A connection flange 3 is installed at the gas-flow outlet 2 of an exhaust manifold 1, and a connection flange 5 is fixed onto one edge of said flange 3 by means of bolts 6, and a converter case 4 is connected thereto. A stepped wall part 8 for holding one edge of a monolith catalyst body M through a cushion member 10 is installed in the vicinity of the other edge of the converter case 4, and a gas outlet 9 is formed at the same edge of the converter case 4, and a connection flange 10 is provided there. A flange 12 at one edge of a cylindrical retainer 11 is interposed between the flanges 3 and 5 described above, and the other edge of the catalyst body M is held by a flange 13 at the other edge of the retainer 11. A tapered part 15 is formed at the opening edge on the flange 5 side of the converter case 4, and sealing members 16 are charged there for gas sealing. |
