This invention relates to an improvement in a clutch cover assembly employed in a passenger car and other kinds of vehicles, wherein a buffer member (20), (127) is provided on a projection (11), (125) of a pressure plate (10), (113) to carry out smooth clutch connecting and disconnecting operations. In a first mode of embodiment of the present invention, the buffer member (20), (127) is made of a plurality of wave wires (20), (127) bent up and down successively in the axial direction thereof and formed generally arcuately so that it extends along an arcuate surface of the projection (11), (125) of the pressure plate (10), (113) so as to prevent the local abrasion of the projection (11), (125). In a second mode of embodiment of the present invention, a load fulcrum portion (128) which serves as a fulcrum for an outer circumferential portion of a diaphragm spring (114) when the clutch is connected is provided on the projection (125) so as to prevent the buffer member (127) from being fully compressed, improve the durability of the buffer member (127), enable a distance (L2) between a frictional surface and fulcrums (P1), (P2) to be set reliably, and provide a highly accurate clutch cover assembly. According to the present invention, a low-priced clutch cover assembly not only capable of attaining the smooth transmission of rotary torque at the initial stage of a clutch connecting operation but also having high accuracy and durability can be obtained. |
