Process and apparatus for producing fibre-reinforced mouldings

A tube of heated thermoplastic material which surrounds a woven reinforcing insert is stretched over a frame (2). The frame (2) is brought into a working position between a plunger (11) and a cavity (12) of a hydraulically operated compression mould (10). Upon actuation of the compression mould (10), the plunger (11) takes with it the tube stretched over the frame (2) and the woven reinforcing insert and brings them into the cavity (12). It is thereby achieved in one step and simultaneously that the heated thermoplastic material is bonded intimately with the woven reinforcing insert and the desired moulding is shaped. <IMAGE>
