A support for a sheeting device for trenches, pits and the like is described which has sheeting panels arranged in pairs and at a distance from one another. The sheeting panels are held at a distance apart by stays which can be brought into engagement with the supports, allocated to the sheeting panels, for supporting the earth. In this arrangement, each support has at least one mounting device for accommodating a guide head arranged on the sheeting panel.
