<p>PURPOSE: To obtain a non-shrinkable tow usable for forming an article of a complicate shape by combining thermoplastic polymeric fibers and reinforcing fibers to form a continuous tow and forming uniform coating on the tow. CONSTITUTION: About 90-30 volume % thermoplastic polymeric and fibrous tow 2 having >= about 50 deg.C melting point and about 10-70 volume % reinforcing fibrous tow 1 are continuously combined through rolls, rods 5 or the like. An adhesive coating material is applied to the combined tow by a spray gun, etc., as a coating device 6. After removing the solvent on the tow through a porous heating pipe 7, the two is passed through a bath 9 and nip rolls 10 for ensuring uniform coating and then dried by a dryer 11.</p> |
