PURPOSE:To obtain stabilized electrophotographic characteristics just after production by subjecting a vapor deposited layer consisting of selenium or selenium alloy to a surface treatment with aliphat. or alicyclic hydrocarbon or the deriv. thereof. CONSTITUTION:The vapor deposited layer consisting of the selenium or selenium alloy is subjected to the surface treatment with the aliphat. or alicyclic hydrocarbon or the deriv. (hydrocarbon) thereof. The surface treatment of the vapor deposited layer is merely necessitated to bring the vapor deposited layer into contact with the hydrocarbon and the contact may be executed in any state. For example, the vapor deposited layer may be immersed into the liquid hydrocarbon or may be brought into contact with the gaseous hydrocarbon. The surface of the vapor deposited layer may be brought into the hydrocarbon by previously incorporating the hydrocarbon into a packaging material and packing the electrophotographic sensitive body with this material. The fluctuation in the exposing sensitivity of the photosensitive body and the change in the dark charge potential thereof are decreased in this way and the stable electrophotographic characteristics are obtd. Images having stable copying image quality are obtd. from the beginning.
