The invention relates to a material-compressing device, used in a plant, for being able to produce a rigid, elongated beam 4 from a loose material 2 wetted with binding agent, comprising a compression section 7 in which components of loose material wetted with binding agent are pressed together, a heating section 5 in which the pressed-together material components are dried and a conveyor device which is arranged to make each material part 2b pressed together in the compression section pass through the heating section 5. Compressed components 2a present in the heating section 5 serve as compression rams and generate a final compression when moved towards the compression section by the moving parts 15,16 of the heating section 5. The counter-pressure is absorbed here by a constriction 40 which creates a material pile-up and this produces a progressively lessening compression against a conveyor 18 and produces an interface or boundary zone between adjacent material components without marked variations in compression. <IMAGE> |
