PURPOSE:To provide a vaseline-like solid material containing magnolia oil and specific natural animal or vegetable wax, meltable by slight heating to form a highly fluid liquid to facilitate the dispensation to small bottles and useful as an ointment for the treatment of dermatic diseases, a base for transcutaneous drug, a base for cosmetic, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective vaseline-like composition can be produced by melting and mixing 95-50wt.% (preferably 90-60wt.%) of magnolia oil and 5-50wt.% (preferably 10-40wt.%) of a natural animal or vegetable wax having a melting point of >=45 deg.C (e.g., hydrogenated magnolia oil, Japan wax or beeswax) at 70-200 deg.C and cooling the mixture after the complete dissolution of the latter component. The vaseline-like nature is maintained even at 6-7 deg.C and the freezing point of the composition is lower than that of magnolia oil (9-10 deg.C) by 3-4 deg.C to provide great convenience in use. Since the composition melts to a highly fluid liquid at >=60 deg.C, it is easily dispensable to small bottles. The composition may be added with perfumery, oil-soluble drug, inorganic powder, etc., as required. |
