<p>A drain-cleaning implement (10) of the type with a rotatable snake (12) extendable for drain insertion. The preferred device has a mechanism (80, 92) for imparting vibratory motion to the snake at a frequency greater than the rate of rotation such that the snake will more readily pass traps and other obstacles. The vibration, which is preferably axial with respect to snake length, preferably is actuated during use by applying axial pressure on the snake. One embodiment has a housing (14) with a rear portion (16) over a motor (58) and a front portion (18) over a container (26) for the snake, the housing substantially covering the motor, gears (50, 62) and container. The rear portion preferably has a handle (22) and trigger (24) for easy holding and operation.</p> |
