PURPOSE:To obtain a saccharide-containing antitumor agent showing strong multiplication inhibition activity against tumor cell consisting essentially of protein substance fractionated from a culture solution of Actinomyces Streptomyces hachijoensis. CONSTITUTION:Streptomyces hachijoensis is cultivated by a well-known method and a crude fraction containing the aimed substance is obtained from the culture solution. Then the crude fraction is treated by precipitation with ammonium sulfate to give a protein fraction. Further, protein fraction is collected by zone electrophoresis, purified, dialyzed and lyophilized to give a novel protein substance of light yellow powder. The protein has 20000-60000 molecular weight measured by SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and 5.0-7.0 isoelectric point. A saccharide-containing antitumor agent consisting essentially of the protein is prepared. |
