PURPOSE:To improve the durability to the ice and the snow without deteriorating the noise performance and the wear resisting characteristics by forming may blocks separated from each other by many grooves on a tread and forming discontinued grooves having specific length, depth and width, on the side face on each of the blocks. CONSTITUTION:On the tread 2 of a tyre 1 there are a plurality of block rows 5A, 5B and 6A each consisting of blocks 5 and 6, respectively, which are separated from each other by a plurality of main grooves G1 and connection grooves G2 and G3. A plurality of discontinued grooves 7 are formed at equal intervals on both side faces 3 of each of the blocks 5. The width gW of each of the discontinued grooves 7 in the radial direction of the tyre is set to 5 to 50% of the width BW equal to the length between both side faces of the block 5. The length gL which is circumferential length of the discontinued groove 7 is set to 5 to 25% of the length BL between both opposing ends of the block 5. The depth gHJ of the discontinued groove 7 on the side face thereof is set to 15 to 80% of the depth GH of the main groove 7. |
