The method reduces the test time of an electronic ignition circuit for an electronic detonator, includes the output of a gate r a set of pulses by the electronic ignition circuit. During the gate pulse or the set of pulses a consistent response is transmitted by the test unit, and is received by the electronic ignition circuit. The device for carrying out the method has an electronic ignition circuit (ZE), a DC/DC switch converter (SE) operated from a microprocessor a storage capacitor (C1), also an ignition switch (ZS) controlled by the microprocessor which transmits the charge of the capacitor (C1) to the detonator (ZM). A safety switch (S1) is connected parallel to the capacitor (C1) which is controlled across a first oscillator (OSZII) and a divider chain (TK; T1, T2). In order to move from the closed position to the open position, the test unit (PG) has a switch (S2), which is closed with the connection of the test unit or with the receipt of a gate pulse from the microprocessor control element, in order to short circuit a part (T2) of the divider chain (TK). ADVANTAGE - Redn. of test time of electronic circuit, which gives greatest possible safety and excludes any imaginable fault.
