A food storage container (1), made of plastic, in the form of a box which can be closed by means of a removable lid (2), is designed in such a way that the lid (2) is provided with a peripheral catch bead (4) which can be snapped in a positive-locking and sealing manner under prestress into a peripheral catch groove (5) inside the box and in the upper edge region thereof. Furthermore, the lid (2) is provided with an opening lever (7) which is supported by one of its ends on the upper edge of the box.
