PURPOSE:To obtain the title isotropic boron nitride compact having physical properties practically uniform vertical to and in parallel with the pressing axis by hydrostatically pressing boron nitride powder as the raw material at a specified pressure as pretreatment to form a green compact, and then sintering the green compact by a hot press-forming method. CONSTITUTION:Boron nitride powder as the raw material having <=3mum average particle diameter is hydrostatically pressed at a pressure shown by (66x+60)<y<(66x+300) ((x) is the mean particle diameter of the boron nitride powder, and (y) is a hydrostatic pressure (gage pressure in kg/cm<2>)) to obtain a green compact, and the green compact is sintered and formed by a hot press- forming method. |
