PURPOSE:To improve a vehicle mounting property by providing a carrier cover on a carrier, forming same in a body with a shaft, and forming a lubricating-oil port from the shaft toward a pinion shaft on the carrier cover. CONSTITUTION:A flange type carrier cover 6 is formed in a body with a shaft 2 by means of hot forging and a pinion shaft 5 is directly fixed to the cover 6, forming a gear unit 1 having high strength while being compact in the axial direction. Lubricating oil is fed from the center lubricating oil port 2c of a shaft 2 to a lubricating oil port 6a formed on the carrier cover 6 while being further forcedly fed to the supporting face of a pinion P3 via the oil ports 5a, 5b of the pinion shaft 5. Although axial tension from a counter-driven gear 18 acts on a thrust bearing 15 between a sun-gear boss portion 17 and the carrier cover 6, this axial tension is backed up by the large diameter portion 2b of a shaft 2. |
