PURPOSE:To improve the torsional rigidity of an engine with simplified constitution by protrusively providing ribs in a longitudinal direction in right and left outer surfaces of a cylinder block while forming one part of the rib by a water pipe connecting a water jacket to a water pump. CONSTITUTION:A V-engine 7 forms its cylinder block 7a by right and left cylinder rows 7L, 7R and a bottom crankcase part 7U connecting these cylinder rows. Each cylinder row 7L, 7R is respectively formed by cylinders 7e partitioning a combustion chamber and by water jackets 7f provided to be arranged in outer surfaces of these cylinders. While the engine protrusively provides reinforcing walls 7h in a crankshaft direction in an outer wall of the water jacket 7f while partitions water passages 7j by partly increasing a sectional area. In this way, when bending force acts on the cylinder block 7a, the engine is suppressed from its deformation by the reinforcing wall 7h, reducing an output loss. |
