摘要

PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance, weatherability and lubricity by constituting a protective film consisting of a 1st layer consisting of specific Cr and the 2nd layer consisting of amorphous carbon. CONSTITUTION:The protective film constituted of the 1st layer consisting of the Cr film contg. at least >=1 kinds of boron (B) or carbon (C) and the 2nd layer consisting of the amorphous carbon formed on the front surface side of the 1st layer. The Cr film formed as the 1st layer may be more specifically any of a Cr-B film, Cr-C film and Cr-B-C film. The good corrosion resistance and weatherability are obtd. in this way and the sufficient protection of the magnetic film thickness is assured. The magnetic recording medium having the excellent durability is thus obtd.
