<p>PURPOSE:To normally accurately detect the side end of a sheet by a method wherein a driven means is controlled so that based on an output from a pressure sensor, return of a second guide plate approaching a first guide plate in order for adjustment of width is controlled. CONSTITUTION:Along with forward running of a motor 44, a moving guide plate 41 is moved in a direction in which it approaches a stationary guide plate 39. A sheet entering a width adjusting unit 33 from a direction shown by an arrow mark is collided with the guide plate 41, a pressure is applied on a pressure sensor 43 through a resilient member 42 to generate a relatively high output. An output signal therefrom is converted into a digital value and is inputted to a control part 46. The control part 46 inputs the signal through an I/O cell 49, comparison is repeated until the signal attains a preset reference value, and when it exceeds the reference value, a motor 44 is reversed. This reversing moves the guide plate 41 in a direction in which it is separated away from the guide plate 39. After an output from the pressure sensor 43 is decreased to a value lower than the reference value, the motor 44 is brought into a stop. In this case, the guide plate 41 stops in a position of a sheet size + alpha.</p> |
