PURPOSE: To prevent a driver from quickly colliding with a steering handle by automatically releasing the constraining means of a receiving member of an axially displacing transmission worm by a pulse generated in a head-on collision. CONSTITUTION: A constraining means 11 is formed of an electric separating screw 12, and it is screwed to a bush provided on a receiving member 7 through a protruding piece 13 formed integrally on an outside envelope part 1. During a head-collision and after the application of an collision pulse generated thereby to a terminal 16, the separating screw 12 is separated in a screw part 15, whereby the receiving member 7 can be rocked so as to part away from the outside envelope part 1. At that time, the receiving member 7 is helped to rock by the spring 19, and a displacing inner envelop part 2 presses a transmission worm 6 by its tooth-profile part 9 to release the engagement with the transmission worm 6. |
