METHOD AND DEVICE FOR INSERTING FILAMENTOUS BODY INTO TUBE

PURPOSE:To advance the filamentous body housed in a hermetic container into a tube and to allow the insertion of the filamentous body into a long-sized tube of a small diameter in a short period of time by admitting a pressurized gas from the hermetic container into the tube from the one end thereof. CONSTITUTION:A truck 19 is drawn to the outside of the hermetic container 11 and a spool 23 on which an optical fiber 1 is gently taken up is mounted to a bearing stand 22. The front end part of the optical fiber 1 is slightly projected from a guide 44 by drawing out the optical fiber to a suitable length and thereafter, the truck 19 is pushed into the container 11 and a cap 14 is closed. The front end of the optical fiber 1 intrudes into a turbulence generator 51. The front end of the optical fiber 1 is carried by high-velocity gaseous nitrogen into a tube 5 when the gaseous nitrogen is admitted from a gaseous nitrogen cylinder 61 into the hermetic container 11 in this state. The optical fiber 1 is exposed to the turbulence of the gaseous nitrogen and is thereby waved in the turbulence generator 51 so that transporting force is exerted to the optical fiber 1 by the friction force between the gaseous nitrogen and the surface of the optical fiber 1 and the static differential pressure generated before and behind the waving part of the optical fiber 1.
