PURPOSE:To obtain the title foam having uniform and fine cells and high expansion ratio useful in a wide field of food containers, building materials, etc., by blending a thermoplastic polyester-based resin with diglycidyl phthalate and a metal of group I of the periodic table and a blowing agent in a specific ratio, extruding and expanding. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 pt.wt. thermoplastic polyester-based resin is blended with (B) 0. 05-2.0 pts.wt. diglycidyl phthalate, (C) 0.05-5.0 pts.wt. metal of group I or group II of the periodic table or compound thereof and (D) a blowing agent. The blend is extruded through a die to a low-pressure zone and expanded to give the aimed polyester-based resin foam. The foam has excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, insulating properties, rigidity, lightweight and cushioning properties and is usable in a wide range. |
