CULTURE PROCESS TO ACTIVATE LIPASE ACTIVITY IN MICROBIAL CELL

PURPOSE:To efficiently supply a nutrient necessary for the production of lipase and to improve the activity of lipase in microbial cell by culturing a lipase- producing microorganism and a microorganism-holding material while controlling the specific feeding rate of substrate at a specific level. CONSTITUTION:(A) A medium is charged with (B) 5-40vol.% of a microorganism- holding material (e.g., a porous material having a pore ratio of 10-99% and a pore diameter of 1-2,000mum) and inoculated with (C) a lipase-producing microorganism. A substrate (e.g., polypeptone) is supplied to the medium at a rate of 0.03-0.1g-nutrient/g.cell.hr. The process is effective in reducing the production cost of an immobilized lipase catalyst to be used in lipase reactions such as ester interchange reaction, ester-synthesis reaction and hydrolysis reaction.
