The principal subject is an electrode and a process for its manufacture. To decrease the ohmic resistance in respect of the electrodes in the electrolysers, the contact between the electrodes 7, 8 and the diaphragm 9 has to be improved. To do this, the electrodes 7, 8 are attached to the metal wall 6 by means of flaps 12 cut and pressed in the said electrodes. Thus, the electrodes 7, 8 have cavities 11 allowing access to the electrodes for spot welding of the flaps 12 onto the wall 6. Owing to their flexibility, the flaps allow the thickness of the unit to be adjusted. Application to electrolysis fuel cells and chemical reactors.
