PURPOSE:To obtain the subject roll, readily workable as a calender machine in a paper making process and having a uniform surface temperature distribution by engaging a shaft part having a helical groove for feeding a heating medium with a hollow cylindrical outer layer part. CONSTITUTION:One helical groove 3 for feeding a heating medium is provided in a recessed form on the outer peripheral surface of a shaft part 5, such as carbon steel for a mechanical structure. The resultant groove is then engaged with a hollow cylindrical outer layer part 1 of an abrasion-resistant material, such as chilled cast iron, to afford the objective roll. |
