The present invention relates to a method and a submerged device for dredging and clearing the bottoms of channels of which at least one bank is provided with a path for a vehicle. A clearing and cleaning device is suspended from the end of an arm 3 of a mobile land support 2, running on the bank 13 of a channel 1. The attachment system comprises a clamp mounted on an articulation 4 and a vertical slide making it possible to follow the bottom 14 of the channel, whatever may be its inclination, its width and the state of the bank, when the support 2 advances in order to clean out the deposits 16 by longitudinal passage. The submerged clearing device runs on the bottom and comprises an intake casing fitted with a hydraulically driven pulverising system and with an adjustable closing cover for the opening 10 and a convex deflector, this casing being connected to a submerged pump 12 by a converging vertical pipe. <IMAGE>
