The surface of polyester castings is activated by etching with the mixt. of 50 wt.% sodium hydroxide, 9 wt.% sodium chloride, 1 wt.% sodium cyanide and 40 wt.% water at 60-70 ≦̸C for 0-15 min to give good plating property. The polyester castings comprised of 30 wt.% polyester, 50 wt.% sand, 17 wt.% powder of iron, brass or copper, molded in silicone mold.
