Gripping method, for example for biopsy, characterized in that at least one of the jaws (9) of a forceps is fixed by means of a joint to the extremity of the rod (4) of a piston (2) which sealingly slides within a cylinder (1) wherein it defines a vacuum chamber (20), and in that the closure of said jaws (9) is obtained by communicating said vacuum chamber (20) with a vacuum source in order to create a vacuum which causes the piston (2) to move back and consequently bringing together the jaws. The invention also relates to a device for implementing such method.
