PURPOSE:To enable the quick inflation of an air bag by forming a blow outlet on the external surface of a housing proper in the constitution wherein the housing proper to be fitted with the air bag is provided with the blow outlet for blowing a combustion gas burnt therein into the air bag. CONSTITUTION:The device in the title has a housing proper 36 with a flange part 43 formed on the external surface thereof for fitting an air bag 11. A combustion chamber 35 is provided at the center of the housing proper 36 for housing a gas generation agent, an ignitor and an ignition chemical. Furthermore, a filter chamber 37 and a charging chamber 38 are so provided as to concentrically enclose the combustion chamber 35 and a mixing chamber 40 is so provided as to enclose the filter chamber 37, respectively annularly. The chambers 35 and 37 are made continuous to each other via the first nozzle 39, while the chambers 38 and 40 continuous to each other via the second nozzle 41. In this case, a blow outlet 45 continuous to the mixing chamber 40 is made open on the external surface 46 of the housing proper 36 and a combustion gas is blown toward the side of the air bag 11, thereby enabling the quick inflation of the air bag 11. |
